Molena Mayor Resigns, Effective 11/3/2015

My Final Post as Mayor:

November 3, 2015

Council and Residents of the City of Molena

It is with a heavy heart that I address you to inform you of my decision to resign as Mayor of the City of Molena effective immediately.  As many of you know, I have worked very hard over the last few years to gain my Master’s degree and my CPA designation. And, after having completed both of these this past year, I have been offered a position that requires me and my family to move to lower Alabama before the end of the year.  I never thought I would say this, but we are leaving Molena.

As my family and I head off into a new adventure, I pray that you will work diligently to preserve what it is to be a “Molenan.”   I pray that you will elect a new leader who can make the hard decisions that will make this a place that people will want to raise their families in.  Although I will not be a legal resident of the City of Molena in a few weeks, I will always be a Molenan, and I will continue hoping and praying for new leadership who will successfully protect what we all love about our town.

For the honor to represent you and this town, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I will miss you all.

Sincerely,

Jay Garner
